Brendon Bullen, Veterinarian and Owner

Hi there, my name is Brendon and I joined the Kelburn team in 2012 after spending the previous 6 years working as a companion animal vet in NZ and the UK. I love it here at Kelburn, and have enjoyed getting to know everyone that comes to the clinic.

I enjoy all aspects of veterinary science, with a special interest in dentistry and exotics. As well as looking after cats and dogs, I run a referral service for rabbits and other small mammals.

I do a small amount of lecturing in the veterinary course at Massey University. I also work for our profession’s regulator, the NZ Veterinary Council, helping maintain national veterinary standards.

I have a passion for native wildlife, and love the fact that Wellington has Zealandia right in the heart of the city. I am completely obsessed with mountain biking.

Hi, I’m Ana. I am delighted to have joined the team in 2023. I graduated from Massey in 2020 and spent the first 2 years of my career working on the Kāpiti Coast caring for mostly cats and dogs.

I am passionate about many aspects of being a vet and am looking forward to seeing a wider variety of patients here in Kelburn. In particular I enjoy medical cases, clinical pathology and dentistry.

Outside of work I enjoy a bit of travelling, nature walks and cooking a variety of cuisines at home.
I also care for my ginger cat, Pabu - he is quite a handful!

Alex Hurley, Veterinary Nurse

Hi I'm Alex. I'm currently studying towards my Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and couldn't be more excited to join the team at Kelburn Vets!

I have been enjoying assisting in the care of our lovely patients, particularly the smaller animals that we see.

At home I have many animals to keep me busy - two cats, a bonded pair of rabbits, many fish tanks and a group of fire belly newts! Between caring for all my animals and studying I love catching up with friends on the weekends and playing boardgames.

Leigh Bexley, Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Leigh. I’m a part-time veterinary nursing student and full-time mum of three little people, dogs, birds, guinea pigs and fish. I’m so excited to be working with the outstanding team at Kelburn Vets after a year and a half in the veterinary industry.

My interest in nursing was first sparked over a decade ago at a puppy preschool class with my first fur baby, a whippet named Libby. I’ve since raised two other whippets and am proud to be a certified puppy preschool educator.

As I complete my National Certificate in Animal Technology (Veterinary Nurse Assistant) through Otago Polytechnic, I aim to pursue my diploma and later bachelor's degree in vet nursing.

I have a special interest in canine behaviour and training, and enjoy the sport of cani-cross running with my athletic and challenging youngest whippet who was rehomed at six months old. I also thrive in the clinical environment, particularly in the areas of anaesthesia and urgent care.
